Dr. Emanuel gives keynote speech
Dr. Linda Emanuel, Director of the Buehler Center, gave the closing keynote speech for day one of The World Congress 2nd Annual Leadership Summit on End of Life Care, held June 24-25 at The Sutton Place Hotel in Chicago. The speech was titled "The Impact of End of Life Care – The Role and Opportunity for Health Systems."
EPEC Conference in Saudi Arabia
The EPEC Project, in conjunction with the National Guard Health Affairs King Abdulaziz Medical City, held an EPEC-O conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on May 11th – 13th, 2010. Four Master Facilitators from the EPEC Project taught at the conference, which was attended by over 150 participants from 12 countries throughout the Middle East.
EPEC-EM Publication
Congratulations to the EPEC-EM Project Team, whose article “Adaptation of the EPEC-EM Curriculum in a Residency Using Asynchronous Learning" was accepted for publication in the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine.
EPEC-EM’s Rising Stars
Dr. Tammie Quest, Director of the EPEC-Emergency Medicine Project, was promoted to interim director of the new Emory Center for Palliative Care at Emory University Hospital in February. Dr. Michael Gisondi, has been promoted to Program Director of the Emergency Medicine residency at Northwestern University - McGaw Center for Graduate Medical Education.
The EPEC Project receives support from the National Institutes of Health (National Cancer Institute), the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The EPEC Project has also received support from the American Medical Association and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
