The following are useful resources in palliative and end-of-life.

American Association for Cancer Education (AACE) The AACE aims to foster education for professional and nonprofessional individuals throughout the world who are involved in cancer education.

American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) The AAHPM is an organization of physicians and other medical professionals who are dedicated to promoting excellence in palliative medicine. Their goal is to prevent and relieve suffering among patients and families. To accomplish this goal, they establish educational and clinical practice standards, foster research, facilitate personal and professional development in their membership, and advocate for public policies.

Certificates in hospice and palliative medicine were issued by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ABHPM) from 1996 through 2006. Hospice and palliative medicine was recognized as a subspecialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists in 2008. AAHPM will support ABHPM diplomates until their ABHPM certificates expire.

American Hospice Foundation (AHF) The AHF supports programs that serve the needs of terminally ill and grieving individuals of all ages. Its mission is to improve access to quality hospice care through public education, professional training, and advocacy on behalf of consumers.

The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) CAPC is dedicated to increasing the availability of quality palliative care services in hospitals and other health care settings for people with life-threatening illnesses, their families, and caregivers.

End of Life Nursing Education Consortium Project (ELNEC) ELNEC is a comprehensive, national education program to improve end-of-life nursing care. It is funded by a major grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Primary project goals are to develop a core of expert nurse educators and to coordinate national nursing education efforts in end-of-life care.

End of Life Physician Education Resource Center (EPERC) EPERC acts as a resource for sharing educational materials among the community of health professionals and educators who are involved in palliative care education.

National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) NHPCO develops public and professional educational programs and materials to enhance the understanding and availability of hospice and palliative care. They convene frequent meetings and hold symposia to discuss emerging issues; provide technical informational resources to their membership; conduct research; monitor Congressional and regulatory activities; and work closely with other organizations that share an interest in end-of-life care.
